Where Leadership & Passion Intersect

All of my leadership influences have informed my values, and my values have also carried on to influence my leadership philosophy. This intersection of influence, value, and philosophy leads to an overwhelming passion for leadership that shows itself in my life goal to spread love to everyone; we all need it.
My community of fellow Lumbee’s, friends, and family has significantly informed how highly I value community. I find community to be something that everyone should often experience, as the saying goes “it takes a village”. Life is hard, so why shouldn’t we all figure it out together?
As we continue to practice growth we can help ourselves while also helping others. The co-ed National Service Fraternity I am a member of, Alpha Phi Omega, prides itself on the motto “Be a Leader, Be a Friend, Be of Service”. Since joining APO in 2019 I have challenged myself to live up to this motto, as I believe this is a motto that we all could try to live by.
When it comes to spreading love, authenticity is needed. How can we love each other if we can’t love ourselves? The North Carolina Fellows Program has played a major role in my passion to use leadership to make the world a better place, as this program has pushed me to become a better version of myself. From sharing deep life experiences to casual laughs, and great conversation; NC Fellows has shown me how regardless of your field of work, leadership will always be there.
While leadership is always there, so is a need for change. We should always push the people, things, and organizations we are involved with to change for the better. I have been motivated to use my creative abilities and passion for leadership to spread love as I continue this journey we call life. Whether that be through a new invention, organizing social justice work, or an art form; WE will change this world for the better.
